About Us

THE CATS
Established since 1896

Originally a stop on the old stage line, The Cats Roadhouse served as a weigh station for horse-drawn lumber wagons on their way to San Jose, as well as a rowdy social club for local residents. At the time the road was first paved, around 1920, the Cats was one of the area’s most notorious speakeasies and bordellos. During the 40′s and 50′s The Cats building housed a realty office, gun shop and sporting goods store. The restaurant and tavern were re-established in 1967 and it is one of the last remaining Roadhouses in the United States.

THE CATS
A New Chapter

We are thrilled to announce that ChefCentury has acquired The Cats restaurant in Los Gatos.
The Cats is an iconic restaurant with a long history of serving top-notch BBQ dishes and live entertainment, and we are excited to continue this legacy. Starting May 5th, we will relaunch the restaurant and feature a menu that highlights past customer favorites as well as new dishes created by our talented ChefCentury chefs. Jalapeno Hush Puppies, smoked brisket, smoked beef ribs, smoked wagyu and house-created craft cocktails are just a few of the delicious items you can expect to enjoy at The Cats. In addition to our restaurant menu, we are also excited to offer catering services for celebrations, either on or off-site, and host special events, such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

Executive Chef

Chef Adrian

Growing up in North Carolina, Adrian’s passion for food was inspired by his family and travels abroad, including to Japan where he fell in love with Japanese cuisine. But it’s BBQ where he truly excels, exploring new recipes and flavors of both meats and their accompanying sauces. For Adrian, BBQ is all about memories of home, childhood, and family, which is why he pulls traits from all traditions of BBQ. His favorite type of BBQ is spicy, with at least three tones of taste required. But for those who prefer a less smoky taste, Adrian recommends the wagyu steak with a chimichurri butter, while the ribs with the spicy sauce are a BBQ classic for smoke-flavor enthusiasts. As a partner in Cross Hatch Eatery, Adrian’s mission is to serve comfort foods from around the world with a modern twist, using seasonal, fresh ingredients from local farmers markets. While the menu at The Cats focuses on BBQ, the goals align: to serve delicious food customers will come back for again and again. You won’t want to miss out on the mouth-watering dishes at The Cats.
